I've never cooked with soft drinks before, but I have added to them to make them more interesting. My mother loved to trot out old soda fountain favorites when I was a kid, and my favorite (thanks to my inherited sweet tooth) was the chocolate Coke. Just Coke and chocolate syrup. Tasty, smooth, and the flavors work well together. I guess it's an egg cream with no milk and Coke instead of soda water. But, hey, it gets the job done tastily.
